Gurugram: Gurugram Police have arrested Kalyan Bainsla, who had been absconding after allegedly ramming his car into the bike of female rider Siya on Golf Course Road. He was arrested in Dausa, Rajasthan. Police had been searching for him since the incident. Following his arrest, police are interrogating him and investigating other aspects of the case.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, police had registered a case at the Sector-56 police station. Initially, the case was registered under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for negligent driving.
During a detailed examination of the video footage of the incident, police found significant details regarding the manner in which the car was driven towards the bike. According to the police, the footage showed that the car driver had deliberately steered the vehicle towards Siya’s bike. Subsequently, Section 109 of the BNS, pertaining to attempted murder, was added to the case.
Kalyan Bainsla had fled after the incident on September 13. Police formed three special teams to track him down. Following an extensive search, he was arrested in Dausa, Rajasthan.
According to reports, Siya was riding her Aprilia RS 457 alongside other riders when the incident took place. A video of the incident later surfaced on Instagram. Subsequently, Siya released a video alleging that the car driver had deliberately rammed his vehicle into her bike.
Siya alleged that the car driver first signaled to her to stop. When she did not stop, the driver allegedly steered the car towards her bike and collided with it.
According to the police, Section 109 of the BNS, which has been invoked in the case, carries a provision for imprisonment of up to 10 years. During interrogation, police will investigate the entire sequence of events and examine the facts emerging from the video footage.
