Arrest of a Suspected Predator
Police in Faridabad have taken a 40‑year‑old man into custody after he was linked to two separate incidents in which elderly women traveling alone were allegedly lured under the pretense of a ride home.
Details of the Reported Attacks
Both complaints originated from the Bhupani police‑station area on September 18 and September 19. In each case, the women said a man on a motorcycle approached them, offered a safe ride, and then steered the vehicle toward a deserted stretch of road.
One victim recounted that the suspect made the offer even while her husband was present, insisting he would drop her at her doorstep before veering off to a secluded spot where she was assaulted.
Investigation Process
Initial attempts to locate the perpetrator using nearby CCTV footage yielded no clear leads. Detectives therefore activated their local intelligence network, canvassed the neighbourhood and consulted informers to piece together a pattern.
After roughly ten to fifteen days of intensive field work, an informer provided a tip that enabled officers to pinpoint the suspect’s whereabouts. He was arrested and brought in for questioning.
Interrogation and Ongoing Inquiry
During the interview, the accused reportedly admitted involvement in the two reported assaults. Investigators are now scrutinising his background to determine whether he may be connected to other similar crimes in the region.
The case underscores the critical need for citizens to report unsolicited offers of transport, especially to vulnerable individuals, and highlights the police’s reliance on community intelligence to solve such crimes.
Next Steps
Legal proceedings are underway, and authorities will continue gathering forensic and testimonial evidence to confirm the allegations and explore any additional links to the suspect.
