Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 'Jal Srishti Park' in Miyanwala on Friday. Developed by the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) at a cost of approximately ₹8.64 crore, the park was developed under a Chief Minister's announcement and has been described as a significant initiative towards creating a clean, healthy, and green Dehradun.

Chief Minister Dhami said the park represents an excellent blend of modern amenities and natural surroundings. It has been developed keeping in mind the needs of people across all age groups, including children, youth, women, and the elderly.

Park Created by Revitalizing an Old Pond

A key feature of the park is the conservation and rejuvenation of the existing old pond. Facilities have been developed around it, while an attractive island has also been created in the middle of the pond. Pedal boating facilities have been provided for public recreation.

The Chief Minister said that conserving water bodies is not merely an environmental responsibility but also an effort to preserve natural heritage for future generations. He emphasized that development should not be limited to construction but should also focus on maintaining environmental balance while making people's lives more convenient.

Road, Water and Flood Protection Works in the Raipur Area

The Chief Minister said that various projects related to education, healthcare, roads, drinking water, sewerage, parks, and flood protection are being advanced in the Raipur area. Work is underway to strengthen the sewerage system, along with the renovation and widening of roads.

New tube wells and overhead tanks have been constructed to improve the drinking water supply. Work to replace old pipelines and lay new drinking water lines is also underway. In addition, flood protection and channelization works are being carried out along rivers and seasonal drains.

Song Dam to Strengthen Future Drinking Water Supply

The Chief Minister said that the demand for water is steadily increasing with Dehradun's growing population. In view of this, work is progressing on major projects such as the Song Dam, which is expected to strengthen the city's drinking water infrastructure in the future.

He emphasized the government's commitment to providing residents with better roads, adequate drinking water, relief from waterlogging, and accessible green spaces.

Amenities Ranging from Jogging Tracks to Children's Parks

According to the MDDA, the 'Jal Srishti Park' features a jogging track, yoga deck, children's park, educational flower garden, landscaping, green spaces, and seating areas. It has been developed as a multi-purpose park by integrating modern urban amenities with the conservation of an existing pond.

The Chief Minister urged local residents to keep the park clean and well-maintained. He said that while the government can develop facilities, their upkeep is also a shared responsibility of the community. He encouraged children and young people to use the park for sports, yoga, and other activities while also taking care of the water body and green spaces.

The Chief Minister said that Dehradun is renowned for its greenery and natural beauty. He added that preserving the city's natural identity while expanding modern amenities remains a priority for the government.

MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, other officials, and a large number of local residents were present at the event.
