Kullu/Nitthar. A road accident in the Nitthar sub-tehsil of Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, has left the area in shock. On Thursday night, at around 8:15 PM, an Alto car lost control and plunged into a gorge approximately 500 metres deep near Seri on the Dwarch road in Durah Panchayat. Both occupants of the car died on the spot.

According to locals, the car was heading towards Durah. Near Seri, the vehicle suddenly veered off the road and plunged into the deep gorge. After receiving information about the accident, local residents rushed to the spot and joined the rescue operation.

Recovering the bodies proved challenging due to the depth of the gorge and the difficult terrain. Personnel from the Nitthar police post, along with local residents, carried out a rescue operation for several hours on Friday. After efforts that continued from approximately 1 PM to 3 PM, both bodies were brought up to the road. The bodies were subsequently sent to Civil Hospital, Nirmand, for post-mortem examinations.

The deceased have been identified as Hari Singh, a resident of Shah in Lot Gram Panchayat, and Shyam Lal, a resident of Dwarch in Durah Gram Panchayat. The Alto car was completely damaged in the accident.

DSP Anni Rajiv Mehta confirmed the deaths of the two individuals. According to the police, the exact cause of the accident is being investigated.
