Karachi – A Hindu shrine in the remote village of Rathi, near Nagarparkar in Sindh, was broken into and damaged on Monday night. The caretaker discovered shattered idols the next morning and reported the incident to local authorities.
Suspect taken into custody
Shiva Kaachi, chair of the Pakistan Darawar Ittehad NGO, confirmed that police have arrested a man believed to be the primary perpetrator. Officials have not released the suspect’s identity or the precise circumstances that led to his detention.
Temple’s role in a Hindu‑majority area
Although modest in size, the Mata Jog Maya Temple is one of many small worship sites that dot the villages surrounding Nagarparkar, a region with a sizable Hindu community. These temples serve as local hubs for prayer and communal gatherings.
Investigation continues
Authorities are examining the extent of the damage and whether additional individuals were involved. The police investigation remains active, with investigators gathering forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses.
